Seems like this quest is not going particularly well for our heroines as Kathalia starts to get a little wolfy herself. You think one of them would figure it out by now, unless there is something else in play...
Story Continues:
Kathalia shifted restlessly in her seat, trying to maintain some composure. Her feet ached and felt swollen, like they were pressing against her leather boots. That's what comes of sitting here too long. she thought I need some action. Every moment we sit here, our prey is getting away.
"How can ye even think about that at a time like this! We could become someone else's next meal at any moment and ye want dinner? Aren't we supposed to be on the hunt?" Gwae exclaimed with a sigh that annoyed the sellsword.
I know that, but I've been waiting for hours without food. You're the one who took so long to get here." Kathalia shifted again. Her boots seemed to be pinching her feet and she was feeling increasingly hot and uncomfortable. As she fidgeted, her eyes lit up with a realization Still, maybe she has a point after all. Without thinking, Kathalia began talking aloud.
"You're right. Why would we wait for someone else do do all the fun parts. Fresh kills make for better meet anyway." She moved her tongue across her sharpening teeth as she licked her lips, caught up in her fantasy. She imagined bearing down on her target, sinking her fangs into its neck as the warm blood ran down her throat.
Gwae said something, but Kathalia ignored her, her mind racing through the forest, the tall grass brushing against her. Her adrenaline surged, sending a tingling sensation througout her body, ending at her feet, a bust of noticable pain and then some slight relief. Kathalia kicked trying to get feeling back in her toes, flexing them in an attempt to remove the pressure. A few moments later, she seemed to have success, her ears picking up a slight ripping sound as the pressure vanished. There were other sounds too from around the tavern, a sudden cacophony of noise. Kathalia ignored it, her mind full of images of running beneath the moonlight in a thrilling chase. Gwae said something again, but the bored nonchalance in her tone meant it probably wasn't important. The hunt was what was important.
