The old man of Yappas, one of the eldest characters still found on the field of battle. Although he does so in an adviser role to his Nephew, Chieftain Garatus.
Although it is not in this profile he has undergone quite a few changes over the past few years in the timeline as he sees cracks and failures start to come from the mighty Covenant - and so has fallen back even more on the old beliefs of the Jiralhanae of the Earth and community. Leaving the Covenant Religion behind.
"Back in my day you were dead Scum!"
Faction: Covenant Military
Residence/station Traveling with Garatus's pack.
Profession: Jiralhanae Advisor and Mystic
Name: Eugenius "Eugine"
Species: Jiralhanae
Age: 62 Years
Height: 9' 0''
Weight: 890 lbs
Appearance:
Towering over most races, save his fellow Jiralhanae and the Mgalekgolo, Eugine would be considered a spooky sight to most Humans, Unggoy, and Kig-Yar - the later of which he developed a taste for in his early years. This is due to his size but also his body which is nearly completely covered in silver fur due to his age. His face is fairly standard for his race and despite his age his teeth are still all there and strong, the scars of his earlier soldiering days hidden under all his fur. Some of the fur off his head he has braided into dreads that go down about a fourth of the way down his back, a necklace of shiny beads and small bones around his neck. A bandolier is generally fastened around his chest where his pistol, an 'Impaler' model Jiralhanae design, and spare ammo canisters is holstered as well as where he keeps several of his 'mystical' items, scribed scripture as well as a few materials used to teach his pack about the Journey and to sanctify food. Finally hanging off the bottom of the bandolier, by his left thigh is his notebook, where he keeps notes on what Garatus has done as well as anything else he finds of note. Because of all his work with writing he has very clear hand writing if you happen to read Written Doisac.
He is decently muscular, but not to the extent of the younger warriors he now advises, as his age has forced him to take some things a little slow. He can still run and fight, but not to the same extreme as his fellows. If you were also to get a good look at him or know him well you would also see that his right hand is very badly mangled, a injury when he was a warrior and what got him to fall back into an advisor position. This is his largest war wound, the rest as said before hidden under his fur.
His final large appearance item is his Jiralhanae "Prayer Stick", what would appear to a Human to be a thin tree trunk that is carried around in Eugine's left hand when he is on his Mystic duties, but is replaced by his pistol during combat. The staff shaft has been smoothed down by time and is a very deep maple color, the wood its made out of from the Jiralhanae homework of Doisac and incredibly strong - the head of the staff topped with a small Covenant metal effigy of the symbol for Faith. Besides smacking Garatus when he messes things up the staff has no combat capabilities, as Eugine never found a gravity generator small enough to fit and the need for a blade was filled by his pistol.
Biography:
Born back on Doisac Eugine grew up a normal Jiralhanae infant, lots of combat and sermons to mold him into the near perfect soldier for the new Holy War.
This pitiful new threat was easy to fight, and their armor had no way to stop the weapons of the Gods! World after world of theirs fell as Eugine rose up from a lowly Brute minor to eventually a Captain, leading a pack of his own, but it was mostly filled with the lesser Unggoy and Kig-Yar rather than mighty Jiralhanae. But during one of the missions his new Pack was deployed for the air suddenly filled with Dark Messengers, capsules from the Heavens falling down toward them to burst open and reveal Humans unlike any of them had seen before. Forced to fall back more and more of the Dark Messengers fell and seperated them form the main force, the Pack having to run into a swamp to try and avoid their chasers. Low on supplies and ammunition they hid, avoiding the Black patrols as best they could for four days, their rations only lasting two. On this final day the Unggoy and himself overpowered the three Kig-Yar in the Pack, broke their necks, and devoured them to survive - they tasted way better than expected and Eugine had found a rare delicacy for if they made it out.
Finally reinforcements arrived, the Pack claiming that the Kig-Yar had been lost to the treacherous swamp - but Eugines pack unlike many others had survived through the Black Flood and as a result he had his pack resupplied with proper Jiralhanae warriros rather than the lessers, his Unggoy promoted to heavy gunners in a Sangheili unit. This new strengthened Pack continued their Righteous Journey, Eugine thanking the gods for his survival in he Swamp and this new pack as he started tog row into a Spiritual leader.
But two missions in his soldiering career would be brought to a halt as while fighting in the rain, which he now hates, a human transport was hit by a volley from a Type-50 Heavy Rifle, tipping it over onto its side as it slid across the mud to slam into Eugine as he was trying to dive out of the way. The transport slamming full force into his right hand as he tries to get it away from his body, that hand being completely destroyed by the force as he was throw across the ground from the impact - alive but out of action for awhile.
While recovering on Doisac Eugine took up trying to learn to shoot with his non dominate left hand as a hobby, hoping it would keep his skills sharp if he could ever return to the battlefield. To this end he took up a very old design of a Hunting Pistol as his new weapon, and slowly regained at least some degree of accuracy with it. But his new hobby was soon pushed to second place as a new series of sermons from the Holy Ones arrived. Eugine was so touched by these that he almost forgot soldiering entirely as he devoted his life to be a Mystic, the years passing as he took up training the young Jiralhanae as well before they were sent off the war.
Because he was on Doisac for so many years he saw numerous Chieftains come and go, brought down by the newest upstart, and started to catalogue each one he saw, what choices they made and what caused the next one to decide to overthrow them. It was now when soldiering was completely forgotten, and his shooting practice the only remotely war like thing he did as he became a Elder Historian on Doisac. But after years of filling up tomes on lessons and what not to do as CHieftan he has started to miss the action, war heros coming back to boast of all the Heathens they killed. So recently he packed up his Religious Materials, lessons, and favorite pistol - and left Doisac, very different than when he arrived, and looked in search of...something.
He eventually found his way to Garatus, who he was the uncle of, making a note of how small the galaxy was, and saw promise. He had a good head on his shoulders as well as the combat skills to lead. He just needed some prodding (more accurately staff smacking) to make sure he wouldn't make the mistakes of all those before him.
