I must admit I just had that idea somehow. I wanted an artwork which focused on the three of them spending time together and since Nuffie is dedicating himself a lot to his spiritual training I imagined lil Shiny would gladly suggest to accompany his big Foxydude and also inviting Agent as well. Though sitting around for a long time listening to the nature's sound is pretty much like what he enjoys to do whenever he's relaxing and watching clouds. And there the lil Totodile also tends to fall asleep after some time, hehe.
I really enjoy it to feel into my lil mascot and try to think of how he could react and I must say, it definitely gives the art a nice touch. It's so peaceful like a sweet dream. X3

I always found my totodile's eyes looked strange in Pokemon Amie because I thought they looked like the ones in this painting. Looks like Pokemon changed the eyes at some point:

I think that anime episode came out beforehand during the D/P League. But I personally find both ways good. The half circle on white ground one looks more toony in a way while the one showing the eyelids also looks cute. =3
