Quick project to cover one of the holes in my dining room. I'd like to make more to sell, but because of the electrical wiring I'd have to get at least a CSA approval, though preferably UL, and I'm sure some kind of expensive insurance to protect myself from the stupidity of modern man in regards to installation of electrical furnishings.
There are two definite changes I would make if I make any more. One is mounting to the ceiling with screws through the rim instead of the hub. It was a major pain to get the screws lined up to the fixture box. Second, I used dowels to attach the spokes to the hub and rim. It works well, but the only reason I used dowels in the first place is I was limited on time. The next rendition will have the spokes cut in.

Ooh, very handsome. I like the old-style bulb. It adds a nice touch. I'd like to get some of those bulbs for myself.
When incandescent light bulbs went out of production, I was afraid those old-style bulbs would go out the window also, but I understand they are now being made with filament-like LED's. Am I right?

Just search for Edison bulbs on Amazon. They are still available with filaments, but the one I am using is LED. The only problem I have with the retro versions is they have multiple filaments whereas the original bulbs used one large tungsten wire. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any over 60 watts. This one I am using in particular is 40 watts, but it's mostly for display so I wasn't too picky about it. Picked it up at my local Ace Hardware store.
