Did this one a long time ago. I was tyring to make a comic, but never got further than a couple of concept drawings. It was going to be called Wild Weasels with (you guessed it) weasels as pilots. I tried to make the plane reminicent of the real F-4 Wild Weasel. But I did not want it to look too futuristic, It was supposed to be kind of outdated in the comic. I'll put some more of the concept drawings in the scraps folder as I have time. I was never happy with the character design, weasels are kinda hard to draw for me.

I was trying for a manta ray look to the plane so I put the leading edge "chines" on for appearance. I think the forced perspective on this pic makes them look bigger than they are. I did not want them to obstruct the pilots view (too much). If I can find the top down view schematic I'll post it. The big fuselage was mostly due to my strange need to cram four engines in it, one set tuned for high altitude, I was thinking ramjets maybe.
Variable inlet ramps, or SR-71 type movable aerospikes (I think that's what they were called) might work. At Mach 3, the SR-71's engines get most of their thrust from acting like ramjets, I think.
I can't remember how the variable inlets on the XB-70 and Sukhoi T-4 worked, though.
I've got both a B-70 and a MiG-31 with cranked arrow wings in the works, but I want what I put out recently to get its moment in the spotlight.

Wow, really nice perspective. Great design too! You've definitely got a thing for mechanics... Do you do drafting or mechanical engineering for a living? Either that or you're some crazy kind of enthusiast, because I see a lot of really technical details ( I won't go so far as to call them correct, because I'm not knowledgable enough to know if it's aeronautically practical or not. BUT IT SURE LOOKS LIKE IT IS. )
No I'm not a mechanical engineer or anything like that. My area of study was graphic design where being anal retentive is a desired trait. I spent four years in the Air Force prior to that so I guess that makes me kind of a wingnut. I tried to make the plane look like it would work, with out any real knowlege of aeronautical engineering. It would probably blow up on the runway if it was actually built. :)
