So the theme of this year's Arizona Fur Con is "Fur Noire" so I thought it would be a lot of fun to create a Noire incarnation of Amaru! In case you don't know, "noire" refers to a type of movie called a "noire film" which is a (typically) black-and-white crime thriller, usually set in the 20s to 50s. I only know about the genre from parodies and cartoons *blushes* my world here is kind of a furry cross between 'LA Confidential', 'Nancy Drew', 'Sin City' and the American-Girl 'Kitt Kittridge' books XD
I have already created a few different versions of my fursona for different types of fictional worlds but this was the first!
Here is her backstory if you're interested:
Amaru here is an ambitious gal who grew up in a little Podunk town by the riverside, fishing and shooting tin cans. Growing tired of home, she decided to move to the city to seek her destiny. Now she's a plucky young journalist for the Barker - a struggling newspaper in a bustling (currently nameless) metropolis. Don't let this pretty face fool you! Ammy is a hard-hitting, fearless go-getter with nerves of steel, a mind like a cracking whip and an unquenchable thirst for the truth. Don't cross her, or she may introduce you to her childhood playmate, Annabelle: a loaded hand-pistol!
Since joining the Barker, Amaru had been looking for the story that would make her name and save the dying paper. Now, an overheard negotiation in an abandoned warehouse, and the subsequent discovery of a strange sack dumped in the city harbor, has set Amaru hot on the trail of a shady crime ring that's been doing its dealings right under the noses of the people!. This is more than just another hot scoop: as Amaru digs, she discovers more and more of a corruption that runs as deep as the city itself. There's no turning back now. This city is her great beast to be slain, and she'll stop at nothing until the truth is revealed and justice is served. Can she blow the lid off this operation and save the day?
