Every now and then, a client will challenge me with something that will push me to the limits of my skills and patience. And I couldn't be more happy about it! The first problem was getting the basic look of the scene and then, everything else. I went through 3 versions of ornaments before I liked the result, the abandoned look gave me more interesting textures to work with but I had a hard time stopping with them, I feel like I could still sit here and draw tiny cracks and rubble all over the scene. This is one of those paintings that I really can't properly plan out with a sketch. I start with a solid idea and I work towards the best possible result, I try and fail, until it feels right. In terms of hours, I really lost track, but it was many, many... :)
