Chained against the wall, struggling with enfeebled strength hoping to acquire freedom. Pacing back and forth your mirror image, that which knows you better than yourself. Looking up and down surveying the best point of attack, like a predator stalking the prey, “Why do you sacrifice?” You hear yourself call back.
“I do not know....”
Flashes of red and white obscure vision slowly returning in haze, “Wrong, why do you sacrifice?” The mirror snarls back, forcing your gaze to it's own.
“For I am willing to give it all.”
Slamming against the wall with a resounding crack, your head becomes warm with the sensation of bloodshed, “good good,” the doppleganger chortles the accomplishment, stalking from side to side once more, “Why do you fight thusly?”
“I do not know....”
Air forced from powerless lungs to resist the assault, snapping bone echoes in both sets of ear, “Wrong once more!” It roars while blood paints the worst enemy's face, smiling in delight at the gasp for air, “Why do you fight?”
“To ensure....no others suffer.........my......my same.....fate.” Stated firmly through labored breathing, blood trickling down the back and from both corners of the mouth.
Laughing malevolently as the mirror image exhibits the same sign of damage, “No rest for the ensanguined guardian.” Laughter continuing until it's dissipation, chains disappearing with it.
Snapping back to consciousness, wincing at the pain emitting from my forehead.
Blood covering cloaked fingertips in this sanctum of darkness.
Fatigued had overcome the captive of nightmares and sin.
Recovering from the pain, it can be seen that a faint sight can be determined.
Had the events that transpired in dangerous sleep awakened something old,
Were my eyes opened a little to that which I was blind to this entire time?
Eyes closing to darkness once more with a slow inhalation of air.
Opening once more the low field of vision remains intact.
Steeling to the continued trail of escape from this labyrinth of darkness.
Life returning to what were believed to be cold decayed blood.
“To ensure no others suffer my same fate, I fight onward.”

Something I had brewing in my head all night, and wanted badly to flesh it out so here it is another chapter in what I have decided to label as the "Labyrinth" series. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writing it.
