Herein is a piece that was done by  Phirae of my hybrid-like species character, showcasing his intricate maw.

Holy crap, I need to figure out a name for this guy, but I'm drawing plenty of blanks when it comes to him, which is an oddity as I usually don't have massive issues with names. Only in a few selected circumstances.

Great work by  Phirae on this one. Really nailed the idea I was going for with it.

Original description:

The mouth is a modification of several prior sources that have been listed to the artist, but won't be reiterated here. Part hybridization, and part original setup.

The throat is coiled significantly within the internal muscles, but so much so in accordance with the plant-based design. It is a plant, first and foremost. There aren't really teeth in the internals, per se, but moreso strategically placed spines, but almost around where teeth would be, but also along the inner cheeks. The tongue is much wider and flatter, having a slightly more appearance akin to a pricky pear appendage in shape.

There are small spines surrounding the tongue, and also a fair few on the tongue itself, but these are like soft, malleable spines that moreso are brush bristles in how they would react to something on them.

The overall design of the mouth is combining a Cacnea mouth with a Maractus one, so there's a slight w curve to it, along with the circular holes from the Cacnea mouth that interact with it. At least, that was the basis behind the mouth.

The internal colors are more a minty green type of color with some hints of pink rolled into it, more akin to the combination of the Cacnea green and the Maractus pink. This pink is more a subtle highlight though and the minty green is more prominent. It appears a darker grey when the mouth is closed or partially open.
