I do enjoy the pallet choice for this guy. That and I like the vertical marks of light pink signifying sunlight or something shinning through a dungeon window. Minimalist techniques and stuff like that is really badass to me.

Traveling for months in those barren, horse-infested wastes, not a drop of wifi to quench my thirst.

Good lord, I love this so much. The monstrous yet frail anathomy, the never ending grin and, most of all, the dim beam of light slashing its body, hurting it even more with the idea of an "outside".

Yassssss dude you got it. The beam of light as something inflicting violence (in addition to older wounds inflicted physically) wasn't something I considered, but that's a really cool interpretation.
