Ok, here's a bit of a sample of Spectral solos. The song is meant to have a bit of a Metallica feel, and I think I pulled it off fairly well.
I know that there's some clipping going on, and don't worry, it's not like that in the finished product, that's just a fuck up from AcidPro.
Anyways, let me know what you think, will you?

Also! The second solo was a bitch. Srsly. The chord progression is something like this:
Dbm, Em aug, Ebm aug, Dm aug.
Basically, if you play guitar you'll understand this, take you guitar. Open string, 3rd fret, 2nd fret, 1st fret. Now write a solo to follow that. IT'S A BITCH, ISN'T IT?!

Well, I think it's bullshit that you've gone as far as you can on your own. I've never taken a guitar course in my lfe, except for my mom teaching me a few chords when I first started 15 years ago. lol Just break down a chord into all of the notes that make it up. Not just a major chord, but the FULL chord.
Like this:

Basic E minor.
Now break that down into all the notes that make it up (remember, the FULL chord) and you get something like this (whic actually soinds kind of sad):

But if you really want to get into it, then the scales come in really handy. Unfortunately, there are waaaaay too many to type up here, which is why I'm going to refer you to this website: http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php There are a lot of really cool scales there that I've learned and used in my music.
Now, if you're using dropped D tuning, which is what I use in most of my songs, it gets a bit harder, because you don' have as many root notes as easily accessible.
