Spent most of the week hammering out the science for the portal generation device. After spending several days researching electromagnets, including a simple induction motor with variable frequency drives and universal motors. I had settled on a no bristle universal motor on a modified cordless rechargeable electric impact driver with digital speed setting. Upon doing so, I realized that simply spinning a quarts crystal around in circles doesn't cause it to vibrate audibly. So I scrapped the previous design and started all over from square 1.5.

Quartz crystals are piezoelectric and are commonly carved into tuning forks since at least the 50's. It is used in radios with an ocellator and resonator to attune to radio frequencies with increased accuracy. Watches with quartz crystal tuning forks have an electromagnet that allows the the fork to continuously emit a tune, which considerably increases the accuracy in lieu of weights and counter weights.

That being said, the tuning fork I would need for my story, Enchanted Wolf Vineyards, would need to be hand held, resonate audibly, & emit the same frequency continuously. Built to purpose sketch to follow next.
