To stay well ahead of the competition, and with no competition-grade boost glider kits available at the time, I threw one together from what I could find locally. A Comet hand-launch glider from the local Kmart modified to accept a power pod made from a salvaged Centuri Viking model rocket. The rudder was relocated to the underside of the tail.
Crude yet it got the job done. Taking first place was child's play. Yet there was always someone who said it wouldn't work.
