On Saturday, I got a BRAND NEW COMPUTER! A 17" widescreen HP Pavilion with 4 GB of RAM, dual-core processor, card reader, numerical keypad, a remote, wifi, and DVD-burner! The reason I'm including a few trivial things is because I'm upgrading from a 12" iBook with 384 MB of RAM, 500 MHz G3 processor, no wireless internet, and no burning capabilities. I think it was made in 2000. Also, NO Mac laptop has a numerical keypad or card reader.
My iBook has Photoshop 7 on it, but I can't transfer over a Mac program, so I'm now using Photoshop Elements 5 and/or GIMP for cartooning, starting with today's comic. Biggest drawback. I completely miss layer groups, and not all my most-used tools(guides, the Satin layer style) are available. Also, no CMYK support for printing books. I may upgrade to Photoshop CS4, but that'll be expensive. For now, I'm going to give GIMP a fair try, but comics are in Photoshop Elements for now, due to workflow.
Gonna see about installing Linux when I'm all settled in.
Oh it's so nice to have my lines show up RIGHT WHEN I lay that stylus on the tablet. Slow computers suck!
That's my Spanish-English dictionary in front of the fox.
