Think you should have tried with some different cameras angle. Maybe a comic writer (that I'm not) could help you in this :)

Also try imaging him cry with his low deep voice his kind of funy (sorry :P)

I'd say your main issue is you're still struggling with 'flow of motion' in your comics. It does looks like the characters are frozen in mid-time poses rather than appearing to be visually IN motion as they speak. The word "SHOVE" and the action lines on Finnick help, but we're missing the blurred motion of Nick's arm to actually IMPACT against him. We're only seeing the reaction, without any visual action.

The quality is there, just not the movement. Fixing that would likely erase a huge amount of the discomfort you had with this page.

For what it's worth I'm kinda digging how that very thing gives it a 'real' 'photographic' quality. Like looking at frames from a film instead of 'comic-ifying' the characters.

It's not really coz he got shoved, more like Nick pushed the right buttons and upset him. With how he acts like such a tough guy, it's probably all those repressed feelings hitting him at once.

It would've been more emotional had you skipped the actual punch panels, you made the comic go from teasing/comedy into 'toony violence' into 'realistic dialogue' into attempt at emotion; had you just gone from the teasing into Finnick slowly stopping to fight and instead changed into a slow 'I give up' sob I think it would've felt like more authentic frustration.

I'd say that the "emotion" would've worked better if Finnick had put his head down, instead of putting his head up. Having Nick slump with him while doing that may have worked out better.

Overall, really enjoying the comic!
