Soooooo...yep, it's Undertale's anniversary, and it nearly snuck up on me. Luckily I was able to cobble together something real quick for the occasion.
I have seen playthroughs and have just as much respect for the game as I have since it's initial hype, and the idea of a sequel being teased is interesting.
Creator Toby Fox definitely nails down the thought that he won't be able to make another masterpiece, that he got lucky on his first outing and won't be able to make the same hallmark he did. Granted, he's got the name and characters of Undertale behind him to stabilize himself, so that's good.
Toby's a good example of the power of innovation, and of using simplicity to make something amazing that draws such a big splash. Most people may not care for the retro graphics of Undertale, preferring the advancing digital rendering of current comp and console games that trudge along on the path to perfection.
Sometimes, the attempt works out. More than often it fails or gets left behind by other innovations or simply forgotten in the wave of other stuff that saturates the marketplace. But even then, the success can bring some hesitation on reactions and even stress from how stable your creation really is.
All in all said, Undertale was a great game overall. If Toby is possibly teasing a sequel or sub-adaptation of his first work, good for him. Just don't expect a 2nd masterpiece to come from it. still, looking forward to what it might be. I dunno know about you, but when it comes out, think we're gonna have a good time...

The thing I thought made Undertale so popular was it's unorthodox gameplay. Instead of killing monsters, you were highly encouraged to spare them, adding contrast in the JRPG spectrum.
Sequels are like the storage room hallway door in Resident Evil REmake. Sometimes, you'll get lucky and be able to pass through. Others times however, you'll break the handle because you are a worthless person who trips several times upon seeing zombies and never think to shoot door locks open.

From it's Honest Trailer, I can understand some people would see that playing Undertale "like an RPG" kinda can lead you to the worse endings. When you think RPG, you think skills, parties, and level grinding. While there is "level" in Undertale, it's not what we think. Skills? There are none except for the ones you yourself carry. Parties? Well that depends on who you spare. Undertale IS indeed unorthodox and challenges gamer and player perceptions if they're willing to let it.
Oh yeah, I remember that broken handle thing, who thought of that dumb idea?? Well then again by that time, Resident Evil was a staple in the horror genre and is worked on by multiple people. Toby basically did Undertale on his own, making the game even more of an amazing achievement. Seems the small your staff, the longer the game takes, but there more heart it's got in it.
