I don't think Zelda would fit at all, and Helga/Olga sound too old-fashioned for me, also they give me a whole different impression as to what a person with that name would look like... You're right the synonyms of red would be too obvious, and while Cynthia is a nice name, I think it's a little overused as well...
I have to agree. I don't think Trixie is a nice name anyway, but it indeed is overused. As long as you don't come up with the geniously creative Name Vixy, everything's alright... I think the word "vixen" is a damned nice one, but naming a fox girl Vixy is just plain awe..... And ya know, I have already seen more than one vixen characters who are seriously named Vixy Vixen..... I'm getting too much Oo"
Vixen is indeed a nice word, but I personally don't use it much since it has somewhat of a sexual charge in the tone... anyway, you can rest assured I'm not going to name any character Vixy, unless they're some kind of a silly joke character with no actual substance XD
Hehe, you saw through her ploy all too easily ^^
Well, the problem with finnish names is that first of all, they're mostly just slightly different versions of names from other cultures, and secondly, I think most of the options would sound daft as her name...
I did stop and think about the name issue for a moment more now, and for some reason the name "Lafayette" sort of stuck in my mind... and while a jolly good fellow he was, that's not the name I'm looking for... so I looked at a french dictionary and I think I'll call her Lafie, since the meaning is sort of fitting XD (also since the pronouncing is almost same as 'La fille')
That still leaves the first name, though, and you mentioning finnish names made me think Susanna might fit her best, but since it sounds really stupid with a french surname, I'll have her be Susanne... maybe. I'll have to think about that.
(In case you couldn't notice, I'm expressedly avoiding having finnish characters, because almost no matter what I name them, they'd sound fairly silly or stupid to anyone finnish :b ... well, atleast to me they do )

*laughs* why, gentlemen have become so rare it's no wonder a woman hast to scheme ploys to get a hold of one. :)
that's funny. I don't speak finnish, and only know a few names (mostly rallye race pilots), so this sounds odd to me. ^^
my nickname is take ouf of an african language and means 'lion'. a friend of mine is married with a lady from ethiopia, where places and people are named that, too. if you google after it one of the first things coming up would be an ethiopian reggae musician. :)
id Susanne doesn't work, try 'Chantal'. it's very cliché, but I like the soft sound of it. :)

Oh I'm sure you'd be appalled by how low the gentleman-quota is on their world... now I just need to tell about it somehow XD
Well most of the race drivers' names are just different versions of foreign names(atleast they're easy to trace back to them) If I remember correctly, ancient finns didn't have first names, everyone just had a name, until the swedish showed up to order everyone around... but that's not really a part of history I'm really interested in, so I'm not entirely sure if that's how it was... but it would explain why the names are mostly derived from foreign names.
I'd say your nickname is at the very least... accurate XD (I suppose mine is too, being obsessed with space and fightercraft...)
You know, the way you mention soft, considering her chest size, comes off a little... *ahem* XD Anyway, Chantal doesn't really sound like _her_... I considered Julia or Junia, since I think they'd sound sufficiently "soft", but if you have any further suggestions, I can consider them. She's not a super-important character anyway, I only have a fairly short story thought for her, and the end of it is rather conclusive, so thinking too hard about a name may actually be rather pointless... ^^'

now that you emntion her chest size... but hey, julia sounds nice, too. and you're right, thinking too hard on a side character's name seems futile.
I noticed that, too, that many finnish first names seem to be derived from 'christian' names. here it was the other way around, family names were very uncommon, even after the fall of roman empire. then during the 14th century authorities came to the conclusion the world has grown too big to let one name suffice, and changed that. considering some names which are downright derogatory nowadays it seems to me they went from house to house asking the people how they would name their family, or what by-name they want to have.
