So I watched Jurassic World and to atone for my sins I decided to fix Blue in this screenshot from the movie.
Jurassic World could have made scary, more accurate 'Velociraptors' or even given half a rat's ass about the herbivorous/not scary dinosaurs but nope. They sank into the movie monster trope and whilst I'm fine with that -the JP Raptors make great movie monsters- I'm baffled at how they took the progress of the original movie and dumped it down the toilet.
Look at the Gallimimus in World and compare them to the original JP. They made them WORSE. I know they said 'oh the public want scary dinosaurs' and bullshitted it away with that in the movie but seriously the public would LOVE REALISTIC, ACTUAL DINOSAURS. GIANT FUZZY REXES. MURDERBIRD DROMAEOSAURS. REAL CERATOPSIANS. Not 1970's lizardly monsters.
I mean look at that raptor on the left; it's a bunny-handed, frog-mouthed excuse for a dinosaur. It's not scary at all.
I want a movie that has beautiful actual dinosaurs that aren't naked shrinkwrapped monsters :C

Aww man 100% agree with you on this! Jurassic World was fun because it made me think of a 13 year old fan fiction so it had a lot of nostalgia, but at least the original JP series attempted, generally speaking (we know they took liberties still) to be accurate to findings at the time. They even pitifully tried in 3 (to which everyone griped. How? The feathers were barely there??) but World just... no. They even dragged some of the dinosaur's tails. And what's sad is I even have some dinosaur-enthusiast friends who just do not care that it's wrong. But damn wouldn't it be cool? I wish someone would TRY.
Alas. This is a beautiful edit! Love this design for Blue. It still favors her while being entirely fresh and, well, accurate!

I know, but I think the excuse is just a way for the film to have a reason to NOT be progressive and just stick to the old formula. Thus, I don’t dig it. They even had a paleontologist on staff who said “eh, we can get progressive when there are more documentaries about it” which is the poorest excuse I’ve ever heard.
ha ha shrinkwrapped fossils heee....
People are just too dumb to be afraid of anything that doesn't look slimy/decrepid or overtly EVIL in a traditional sense. American monsters have to be skeletal/mummified or just big snakes/slugs or spiders so that people know they are supposed to be scared.
But then... look at how many people get injured by "cute" bears, moose, deer, goats, pet tigers and wolves and it will show you how much humans actually know about their fellow animals. Even experienced zookeepers get maimed by various animals because something went wrong- 90% of the time human error /failure to maintain proper equipment or protocol
Heck, so many people are legit terrified of sharks of any kind when horses, cattle and mules kill way more people than sharks. Hippos, who are ADORABLE probably kill almost as many humans as "creepy" alligators
