Here’s a wider view of a Fairchild C-82 Packet. The Packet was a twin-boom design with a large rear-facing clamshell door for loading troops and cargo. The prototype flew in 1944 and 223 were eventually built. Production ended in 1948.

If you live that close, you've GOT to go sometime. This was my second visit. The first was something like 12 years ago.
The museum has four large hangars. I think they are themed: Early Flight, World War II, Jet Age, and X-planes/Presidential Gallery.
I got there around 11:30am and spent better than three hours there. Only covered two of the four buildings, plus a few displays outdoors.
