Our baby draft horse born this morning so far named trouble here trying to get to know the neighbor. Sadly we may need help with this one. The mother has rejected him which means we have to use synthetic milk which is very expensive. I just spent my car payment on antibiotics for him.
Update: He has been fed and my mare has decided even though she is half his size she will at least protect him and do as much mommy work as she can as long as I keep the bottles coming.

We are lucky. I get stuff nearly at cost and the vets office is 10 min down the road from me. I have another vet across town that I have personal numbers to, can call any time with any question and I can just walk in and say "I need whatever CCs of x substance for such and such" and he trusts me even if its narcotics.
OMG AWWWS!!!!
He looks like a foal we had last year. Almost simular story. Big Red's mother was abused and we took her from a nauction and she was pregnant. 3 weeks later here comes surprize Baby. Lucky he was still alive. Mother had no milk either...and after a while..she just wouldnt have anything to do with him... :uckily..There was another mare that already had a weaned foal and was still producing milk so we thought give it a try and they stuck like glue.
We dont know what he is mixed with but he is HUGE!!!

The other Foal in this pic, Juicy Fruity, is actually almost 2 months older than Big Red. (random theme for names that year haha)

Oh what a cute little fella!! It´s really a sad issue, that hes Mom don´t want him. Without the genuine Mare Milk it´ll be pretty difficult to build up hes immune system, because the first Milk the Colostrum is essentially important for further live. How can you compensate this?
