A follow up to my Poem "Secret Love"
--
From the moment I saw you I felt something,
It was a feeling I had never felt before.
From the moment I felt that feeling,
I didn’t understand what it was.
Perhaps it was your smile,
So endearing and charming.
Perhaps it was your eyes,
Dark yet engaging.
Whatever the reason,
It was enchanting like the sun on the horizon.
At first I didn’t acknowledge it,
We were simply friends.
As we spent time together the feeling grew.
I slowly began to understand this “feeling”.
Could it be? Was it truly what I thought?
Was this feeling attraction? Possibly love?
Yes, I do believe that it was.
It was almost out of a movie,
The two of us on some beach watching the sun set upon the horizon.
Soon I realized that “feeling”,
That attraction I had toward you was reciprocated.
I was elated,
I had never had anyone feel the same way I felt.
Sadly this “love” was only temporary,
Soon we would be apart and would not be able to embrace one another
In spite of this we enjoyed it while it lasted.
Nights were spent with my head rested against your bare skin,
Skin brown like chocolate.
You would hold me close,
My lips would meet your, and it just felt so right.
Despite this I knew that it would end,
It would end when the sun rose upon the horizon.
You had left,
And I was hurt.
I never knew it would feel like this,
This ever lingering sadness.
A sadness that would linger,
Linger longer than I was accustomed.
The feeling passed with time,
And we still continued to converse.
We’re back to being friends,
Yet I cannot help but still have feelings for you.
Perhaps you feel the same,
I am uncertain.
Either way I’m sure someday we will meet again,
We meet again upon the Horizon.
