I really like the interactions between these two, they seem very natural. And I realize this was made years ago, but I gotta say, I don't like the way her hair looks in a bun, makes her look much older than I think she's supposed to be. Ah well, I'm still very interested in this story.

There's two ways of looking at her hair. On the pragmatic level, I'm not very good at hairstyles, and this was one that I could draw semi-consistently. On the story level, it's related to the baggy sweatshirt she wears all the time: she's a pretty girl who would like to be taken seriously. She's already had plenty of not being taken seriously due to how she looks, and it has left her a bit prickly on certain subjects.

This isn't the first time she has been suspicious and Joe has had a reasonable answer. Part of the point of this strip is that Joe is not perfect and she's not just being bitchy. He has noticed, he's just a good guy and is trying to be professional.
