Okay so since a lot of people talk about how FA crashes all the time, I figure I should share how I've been using the site for months without it crashing on me anymore.
The short answer is that I've been using an add-on from Mozilla Firefox called YesScript, which is designed to block programs that run on JavaScript from interfering with your use on websites.
I don't know if it applies to everyone, but for a few years my main browser has been Firefox, and for the past half a year or so Firefox kept crashing on me on almost every single website I went to due to "Unresponsive Script". That was why FA crashed on me all the time. So I looked up stuff and found YesScript and added it to my browser add-on things. (It's free and is added instantly to Firefox.)
The thing works when you "blacklist" a specific website, which is shown in the form of a black scroll icon at the top right. (Unblacklisted sites show a blue scroll at the top.) You can blacklist any site, but some that run main functions off JavaScript, like Tumblr, may not work anymore at all.
This is not the case with FurAffinity! The site functions almost completely the same while blacklisted, minus all the crashes. (Since then it's only crashed on me for like three times and for only like ten seconds each, but that was due to my Internet connection I think.) There are some minor things that do not work the same anymore however. These include the info button icons at the bottom right of the thumbnails, the General/Mature/Adult symbol during the submitting process, that thing where you click on "a day ago" to "August 31, 2016 8:40 pm", and any ads on the page. The only problem there being that this includes ads that artists on here have linked to their page at the top of the screen, so unfortunately no one will see them.
I don't know how this affects notes at all since I have never sent nor received any ever.
Because the scripts on all the other websites caused my computer to not work on the Internet anywhere, I've since switched to Google Chrome as my main browser, but I still have Firefox as well to use any time I go on FA. (It crashes on Chrome for me still.)
If you use Firefox, it's really easy to get YesScript, if you use Chrome you can get Firefox just to use on FA but keep Chrome for everything else, and if you use Internet Explorer your Internet probably hasn't loaded yet for you to see this anyway.
Disclaimer: I don't have any professional affiliation with Firefox, I just thought 'Hey, maybe this could help others.'
Plus there's a simple Firefox mascot cartoon I drew.
