The fansubbers have assigned Crona a female role (such and such says Chrona is that person's child (non-descript), but was translated as daughter), though the author has yet to confirm a gender for him/her. Translating from a language that doesn't necessarily have to use gender-specific pronouns causes problems for us poor English speakers.
