it always bothers the crap out of me when I see people drawing suits of armor as if the character inside doesn't actually fit inside the suit.
The first Metroid Prime did that with the Varia suit. And then they actually made the suit look like you could fit inside it in Metroid Prime 3... of course...everyone hated the PED suit, but if anything, it was the most proportionate Samus ever looked next to the Light Suit in Prime 2.

BASICALLY, what I've done here...I guess it's obvious. I tried layering the suit on top of a real model. lol

I enjoy the really sleek design of the Power suit in Prime, And that made sense, But, I didn't like how the VARIA suit was made sleek in Other M. It was hella nice looking, but, eh.
If if the idea was that the suit became a "security blanket" for Samus, then I personally would have used the beefy looking one. lol

I guess it made more sense to have the sleeker one moving around alot, BUT, as you see here, You CAN fit the suit on a person, AND remove a few bits here and there to make it more mobile, while still having it look beefy, rather than just making the entire suit the same design as the previous weaker looking suit.
