It would have been fantastic if they had alien furry characters on the original Star Trek (or even the subsequent movies) but the effects artists they budgeted for the show back then just couldn't hold a candle to what fursuit builders can do these days (ie. Clockwork Creature, etc.).
So...from left to right: Caitian, Vulcan, Andorian, Human?
Or are these characters "reminiscent of but legally distinct from" the Roddenberryverse? :)
Oh, and wouldn't it make more sense from a physics standpoint to have them materialize from the ground up? That way each part is supported by the previous ones, instead of just appearing in thin air and succumbing to gravity before the rest of the body can catch up. Or maybe I'm overthinking this. Wouldn't be the twelfth time. :)
