Greetings.
My name is Dr Vincent Ivan Wolf, and I have been asked by the author to say a few words.
I apologise for the large text, but my eyesight is not quite what it used to be…
You may recognise me either from the books about The Hounds Of God, which I both co-wrote and starred in, or as Glasgow Smiles the deranged maniac.
I just wanted to say that you may turn back now, and not read this book…if you only want to visit places you have already been to…
But if you want to read something truly special and wondrous, feel free to continue.
I guarantee that you will not regret it.
This story is based on testimony from members of the e-zine Super Power in Oklahoma.
They published an obscure article on the subject, and many thought that it was a joke or work of fiction.
I have however researched it and come to the conclusion that they are telling the truth.
So come closer and listen!
I am, of course, a mad scientist. That may leave you in a bit of a pickle. Can you believe what I am saying?
I am also lefthanded, and you know what they say.
My favourite food is octopus. My interests are (among others) werewolves, the occult, brooding and being an obvious author avatar.
I want to meet a chubby girl, preferably a fertility goddess with fox ears, preferably a tail and…
Er…
Oops…
Anyway, as I sit in my great ivory tower style castle, experimenting the nights away, I decided to start this trilogy.
It is supposed to be funny, but your mileage may wary.
Well, let’s start!
This tale takes place just a few years from now, in an age known as the neo sixties.
This is quite a fairytale, so it should be started as such.
Just let me get into characters…
There is this magical place, so unlike our world.
Once upon a time
Or maybe even Thrice
There was a Planet called Foxstar…
Many a lightyear into The sky
It lay
The days where it Wasn’t a lie.
It is the place you dream of
The days when you are happy
A place before sorrow
And a place you can rest after life
If you ever feel alone
Just open up a prayer
And maybe you’ll see Foxstar
Glowing in the sky
I am not so sure myself, Anymore…
It was a wonderful world of colour and music, where everyone was happy.
A true paradise, it was.
Protected by lions, a place for children, it was called.
Or for those that still had the heart of one…
Both humans and animals lived there, ruled by the wise foxes that were the original race of this planet.
The medieval trickster Reynard was said to be their ancestor, and as such they had powerful magic at their disposal.
The legend of this planet claimed that this was the last existing piece of Heaven, still there in the physical world even after the fall.
Their world was protected by three separate military forces, one in the air, one on the ground and one underwater.
However, they were used for protection and never to attack other planets.
War was but a distant and disturbing thought for the people on Foxstar.
People lived mainly on mountains in the north, since most of the planet was ravaged by strong storms of snow.
On the very edge of the proud mountains ancient and ominous ruins silently lay.
The royal family had no real power, but was still considered the rulers.
They loved every inhabitant of the planet. With all their hearts, they loved.
But no one was more loved by the royal family than their storyteller, Keith “Diamond” Rogers.
He was one of the founding members of the band Therianthropy and with his fellow band mates, as well as the werewolf “grey” Floyd, he composed many musical pieces, which fitted the vibe of Foxstar like a glove, or a brick in a wall.
Because his music was reminiscent of an old fairytale, and that was exactly what Foxstar was…
Anyway…
What I wanted to tell you is that he wrote many books, which is a very important plot element in this story…
The foxes of this land often travelled through space to find other planets and spread the Foxstar message of love.
But the ancient rules of the planet stated that they could not force a planet to be peaceful, nor could the army ever be used for anything but the protection of Foxstar.
And so people sometimes listened, and sometimes they did not.
It was their choice, after all.
Often the royal family was present on the trip; sometimes just they went into deep space for these missions.
It was under one such trip, to a world called the Earth, that the great King and Queen of Foxstar lost Reynald, their only son.
The people of Earth thought that their spaceship was some sort of weapon, and so they shot it down.
The King and Queen managed to repair it, but the ship could only carry two persons back to Foxstar, and it needed two pilots to do it.
They were both near panic. What were they supposed to do!?
Eventually they had to leave their son, a storybook and a sacred ring in the care of a family of foxes.
They had every intention on returning as soon as possible…
Besides, the ring was made by the great magician Chekhov, master of protective magic!
Back on Foxstar, a new party was in full swing.
The King and Queen landed their ship and proceeded to get a new one ready for lift-off as soon as possible, but it was no use.
They had to wait until the next day, when the party would be over.
After all, their son was safe…
Or so they thought.
But things do not happen the way we plan, not even for wise foxes.
Sometimes evil must happen before the true good can emerge.
Because something would happen that day, something that would change the Foxstar and the entire universe forever!
Because their son would become a hero.
And so it began...
