Once again, my attempts to clean up my cluttered condo resulted in yet another discovery of past art - this one going back to the last decade, when I had a job as a 'toll collector' on the Sawgrass Expressway (between 2004 and 2007).
In January, 2005, I was collecting tolls at the Deerfield Beach toll plaza, and dispensing printed receipts (most of which were turned down by various motorists). During lulls in my shift (when no cars approached my booth), I would doodle on the blank side of some receipts.
One such receipt had a 'fat furry doodle' of an anthropomorphic hippopotamus, as I was rendering a spoof of the popular "Got Milk?" ad campaign - sponsored by the American Dairy Association. (Since then, the slogan has been replaced with the new upbeat two-word phrase "Milk Life". Whether or not I'll come up with a future 'fat furry doodle' parody - with "Bulk Life" as its slogan - remains to be seen.)
