We have for Western Civilization Board August Art Theme: Space Babes http://westerncivilization.trifecta3.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=33858#p33858 Sci-Fi babes in skin tight outfits and futuristic bonds is the tone for this month. You can also work in alien abductions and monster DiD’s. It seems that Angelica Pickles has survived the atomic war that has destroyed the world, but some things have survived. This is the Mutated Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQHP00NQZwE of the film "Day the World Ended" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA1SOb9ufns designed by Paul Blaisbell. The survivors have to struggle against the mutated people who are changed to live in a world of atomic fallout. We have three mutants an early mutation that is only slightly changed, a more mutant who straved to death as the others would not give him food. Then the final mutation which has skin that looks like rubber, but it feels like steel.
The mutated man was an interesting design that again did not look that good when it was moving around. The creature was suppose to live in the world that contaminated with radioactive fallout. As the mutants can and only ingest animals that are radioactive, hence when the when the rain comes down clean and the creature dies.
Angelica Charlotte Pickles is the main antagonist of the series. While this is so, she acts more as an antihero in the films and often sides with the babies at the end, against the films' respective main villains. She is voiced by Cheryl Chase in both Rugrats and All Grown Up, and is among the series' original characters. She is a spoiled brat and the cousin of Tommy and Dil Pickles. In 2002, TV Guide declared Angelica Pickles 7th in their list of Top 50 Greatest Cartoon Characters of All Time. She is the arch-enemy of Tommy Pickles and the other Rugrats. Her middle name is 'Charlotte', meaning she is named after her mother, Charlotte. She claims to be 'the prettiest, most beautiful kid in the universe' (which she is). Angelica carries her favorite doll Cynthia (a parody of the popular Barbie franchise) around with her almost everywhere, and fills her room with Cynthia merchandise.
In the spin-off series All Grown Up!, 14-year-old Angelica's personality has clearly made some minor edits to itself as a part of Angelica's maturity; she now wears her hair down, goes after boys more often (in Rugrats, though, she was shown to have crushes on a few toddler boys), and has outgrown the habit of carrying Cynthia around with her all the time (although in one episode of All Grown Up!, Angelica desperately tried to get Cynthia back because Charlotte gave her away). Still, a few parts of her former personality remain: she's still very mean, spoiled, and bossy, but to a much lesser extent than she previously was. She and Susie are still rivals, but they're more like frenemies than actual enemies, but Angelica is obviously still very envious of Susie, mainly because of her being more talented than Angelica at most things (especially singing).
Day the World Ended (1955) was the fourth film directed by Roger Corman. Rick (Richard Denning) is a heroic scientist who, among others, must face off against a mutant monster (Paul Blaisbell) after an atomic war destroys human civilization. Chet Huntley of NBC, later of The Huntley-Brinkley Report, narrates. The film was released by American International Pictures as a double feature with The Beast with a Million Eyes.
The film is referred to in a 2001 horror film of the same title, The Day the World Ended. The film was remade in 1967 with the title In the Year 2889 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMgikpNNAZ0 with the dialogue repeated almost entirely verbatim.
An atomic war has seemingly destroyed most (if not all) human civilization, leaving Earth contaminated with radioactive fallout. The apparent single exception is a box canyon, surrounded by lead-bearing cliffs, in which former Navy Commander Jim Maddison (Paul Birch) lives with daughter Louise (Lori Nelson) in a home stocked with supplies anticipating just such a holocaust. Louise is engaged to be married, but her fiance is missing.
Into this natural bomb shelter come stumbling survivors, who by chance were inside the canyon when the war occurred. After initially refusing to admit them, Jim relents when his daughter appeals to his humanity. Among the survivors are a geologist, Rick (Richard Denning), who happens to specialize in uranium mining, and a small-time hood, Tony (Mike Connors, billed as "Touch" Connors), with his "moll" Ruby (Adele Jergens), on their way to San Francisco.
There are two struggles for survival: the first is a simple question of whether the radioactive fallout will dissipate, and if so, before the rain comes to wash what's in the atmosphere down to Earth, contaminating the shelter. The second threat comes in the form of a giant, hideous monster, which seems bent on killing anything it comes across, but only eating those creatures contaminated by fallout.
A less obvious, but no less dangerous, threat is the hidden menace of Tony; although seemingly charming and helpful, his true character and intentions are that he wants the other men out of the way, so that he can have the two women to himself.
All three dangers coincide as the monster kidnaps Louise. It then releases her into a small lake, where he is obviously afraid to enter. Rick appears and attacks the creature, which runs away as it begins to rain. Following the creature destroyed by the rain, they realize that it is Louise's missing fiance. Tony, having stabbed Ruby to death when she realizes that he wants to be with the younger Louise, then steals Jim's pistol. He waits to waylay Rick when he returns with Louise. As he takes aim, Jim reveals a concealed pistol and shoots Tony dead.
Jim then dies from radiation poisoning, but not before revealing that the rain is radiation-free and will wash away all of the remaining contamination, making the world safe to venture out into again. He has heard voices of other survivors on the radio. Rick and Louise, the final two survivors of this group, walk hand-in-hand out of the canyon, with the end-card "The Beginning" appearing on the screen.
