People tend to spend more money on porn because it's more of a niche thing. Totally understandable, too. You want sex-shit drawn for you? You gotta pay more money to make up for the creepyness-factor! You do that - everyone's happy!

Porn is less than 13,1% of the content here on FA and it only gets about 18% of the klicks.

Where do you get your figures on porn content? Not denying them but they seem pretty low to me. I'd like to see them where you got them.

I was reciting them from memory, so I got a few percent off. After looking it up again, It's actually a bit lower, even.
It's actually less than 13.2% porn and less than 16.1% of the clicks. (And remember: people tend to "revisit" their porn, so I'd guess it's even less, when the question is "How many people within the Fandom actively look at porn."

The question then is "Why does it SEEM to us, that there's so much porn?"
1. Because we talk ourselves into it. Because this dumb "Furries are pervs"-meme is growing strong within the Fandom so we start to believe it ourselves. Fuck that, I say. ;)

2. Because after a Furaffinity session people tend to remember the scarring shit more than the innocent nice cartoon-fox. In retrospect it will always SEEM as if you've seen more weird shit than normal shit. But just browse furaffinity and compare - how much porn is there versus how much non-porn is there? - and you will see that we're far more tame than the friggin anime-people for example. ;)

I'll be damned! Thanks for showing me that. Now I don't feel so out of it that anymore I seldom want to commission adult themed pictures. Nearly all that I commission anymore are either general or mature for some nudity.

Another reason that it can seem like there is more porn than in actuality could be a persons choice of people to watch. My tastes and attitudes towards hard core furry porn have changed over the years, yet I still watch most of the same people who do that hard core stuff, so I see more than I enjoy. I think perhaps I need to do some judicious weeding of my watch list and maybe a search for more artists who only do general or mature pictures.

Yes! I look at the front page. quite regularly in fact (FA is my Internet-home) and if you COMPARE (!) the amount of porn vs the amount of SFW cartoony animal pictures - 10% matches up.
If you're REAAAAALLLY stretching the definition of "porn" (you include artistic nudity, every macro picture, every fat fur picture etc) you'll end up with AT MOST 20%

I do this exercise sometimes and it really helps keep things in perspective.

My definition of what consitutes porn is way more nuanced than that. Everything that's obscene can clearly be identified as porn. Obscenity takes many forms but the factor that holds the concept of obscenity together is that it was made to turn people on.
That doesn't have to mean "butts and nipps, penises and vaginas". There's QUITE a lot artistic (non pornographic, not obscene) nudity that would nevertheless sadly have to be categorised under NSFW. Michelangelos David is a prime example of that. It's nude. There's a penis. He's made to look attractive, but to call Michelangelos David Porn would be stretching the concept.

SOME Furries want to get off (as well) It's neither the ONLY thing they care about within the Fandom, nor is it even the main thing (for most people - according to the friggin data ) And some people just don't care about the porn at all (like me - unless it's artistically beautiful)
