Nice! I love how all of your self portraits are pretty dark in the face. And the way your shadow trails off the edge gives a feeling of motion, like it's foreshadowing your exit. :)

Hehe, thank you. I was actually holding a conversation with a friend while this was taken, so I'm glad my mouth doesn't appear to be moving. *grins* And a shadowy face keeps things ominous, eh?

The tagging might suggest this is in the ghetto, but in fact this place is really out in the middle of 'nowhere', and right between two beautiful lakes!

I know humanity hates to leave spaces like that un-used for long...but I we wish they could be sometimes. At least you've had the chance to capture some of the darker beauty of the place...and eerie as some of the shots were, I'd still not hesitate to call it beautiful.

Beauty is absolutely in the eye of the beholder. The unfortunate deal with many of the places I visit is that these buildings were build in the 1800's with such precision and design that some heartful work would make them shine again, and quite easily support a business or purpose. You simply don't see architecture as such anymore. But, instead, they're knocked down for square real estate that will need to be completely renovated again in 10 years. And even in their state of decay, they would not offer the same colorful life, but a bland, hollow shell with absolutely no history.

No kidding...unfortunate though that is. I'm not so old as to begin wishing that nothing would ever change...but I hate watching as the world is slowly turning more commercial. They just wiped out a stretch of forest on one of my favorite roads...I'm sure in another few weeks it'll all be small little houses practically built on top of one another.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm afriad there won't be too many vacant fields or acres of woods in the near future. :/ I know many states require that one to two new trees must be planted for roughly every one cut down, but I don't think this is really happening.
