Burnt horse

My first attempt at wood burning with a little color pencil thrown in. I realized too late what a big difference sanding down the wood makes.

I have a more wood burnings to post when their boarders are done drying. This is the only one with tree bark edges.

They'll all be for auction in the Furry Weekend Atlanta artshow.

I know how hard it is to woodburn...tried it as a teen...I made a muppet instead of a face...

Oh man! I know what you mean. I had to constantly turn the burner on and off so it would stay the right temperature and not sear everything!

I've been wanting to try it since I was a kid and bought a beautiful wood burning of a fairy and a unicorn from a little craft shop in California. There's just not a lot of artists who get a chance to experiment with old techniques now that everything's digital.

I agree. Practially everyone's doing digital art not that there's anything wrong with that but it's nice to artists making art with a different variety of mediums. Here's the piece I was talking about that blew my mind:

I was so afraid it would make my whole house smell like it was on fire, so that was a nice surprise! Hee hee! My whole art show panel is going to smell.

I have a small woodburning kit here. My husband has played with it more. You did a very nice job on that piece. Maybe I'll try it sometime. I have enough to do with the glass right now.

Wow... very nice. And the clothing really works on him; we need to see more anthro horses in 18th century style. Though I have NO idea how the powdered wig/mane would work.
