Cole Mooneyes as Marco (FA:U 2016 Commission)
Here we find something a bit unusual. A color commission at a convention. That's usually because color (in my experience) takes a lot of time as I try to match up colors from my 161-piece marker set. Second of three commissions along the same theme, this is destined to be made into a badge by the commissioner/s who have a laminating machine at their disposal. While badges are nothing too unusual, they're also usually headshots or bust shots. Full-body images are a bit out of the ordinary, but I accepted the challenge, producing what amount to standard full-body pics, sized down a little (2/3 of a typical letter-sized page) for use as badges, but not all that different from other full-body commissions I've done in the Artist's Alley.
In this case we have
Cole_Mooneyes's character cosplaying as Marco Diaz, the second main character of Star Vs the Forces of Evil, BFF, (and shipping target) of the title character Star Butterfly. In keeping with the character he's playing, I added a small touch in the form of him holding up a bowl of nachos, since Marco is known to be quite good at making them.
For posting, I only made very small tweaks as I didn't want the image to look too different from what was delivered. I limited this treatment to using a clone brush to fill in small spots where the marker didnt quite get into the nooks and crannies of the lineart, and minor smudging from leftover pencils that didn't get completely erased. Also, I learned my lesson about brush rinsing after the first commission of the day, so the lineart is a little more consistent this time.
Pencil on bristol inked with India ink+brush, and colored with Touch Three markers. Slight tweaking with Micrografx Picture Publisher 10. Single layer image, 24MB BMP scan.
