~12" x 16". acrylic. 2007.
Unlike the digital stuff I was making on my own at the time (like the
"stamps" I recently uploaded) this was an exercise in real paint that I had
to do for homework.
I had to be really careful about colors and observation and so on. So the
digital stuff was a break, I could be crazy with colors and just make stuff
up. I'm uploading this to give those images context.
That's my neighbor's cat, Butterscotch, who sat out there with me while I
painted, but didn't exactly keep still :P

The little details in this, like the shadowing on the porch and stairs, the reflection on the front door, even the way the cover on the phonebook on the porch curls up, its those little things that make this for me. You don't see enough traditional painting around here sadly. Its got such a...charm to it.
