Anyone remember Leah? https://www.furaffinity.net/view/16722275/
As it turns out, she's email buddies with Robert DeRatry. Neither has any idea who the other is, as they've never exchanged their real identities, preferring to view one another as faceless online entities. And that works for them, as they really enjoy chatting with one another about things in general, without having to get into specifics. Its a way of escape for them.
Robert's emails are one of the few bright spots in Leah's life: she works two part-time jobs and lives in a cramped, unkempt trailer, all the while being nickle-and-dimed by a greedy uncle and aunt as she supports her very young daughter, Polly. There's really not much time for Leah to have a social life, as she wants to devote any time between work to her daughter (helping her with homework or proudly gazing at drawings she's made, or watching movies and TV with her). But once in a while, Leah's able to snag a little time on the family's computer, where she responds to the emails from her online friend. Its both this and spending time with Polly that keeps Leah from cracking under the pressure.
As for Robert himself, he loves being able to talk to someone without being judged about who his father is and what kind of lifestyle he lives. He considers his online friend to be perhaps the most genuine friend he's ever had, especially since most of the creatures he's met in his life have always wanted money or something else from him. And even if Robert wasn't the son of a billionaire, he's always been an introverted type, so he's never had very many close friends. So his relationship with this unknown online creature is very special to him.
Will these two ever met? That remains to be seen. ;)
Notes: You might notice that everything on Leah's side looks sloppy, and that was intentional. Everything on Robert's side is meant to look neat and tidy and perfect, given how he lives in a mansion with a ton of servants. Leah, on the other hand, lives in a trailer that doesn't quite get the treatment it needs. Plus that also meant I only had to fix half the lines on this pic; perfect excuse to be lazy. XD
Fun facts: Leah's computer and chair are based off the ones I currently own.
