Hello :3, well it´s interesting talk about "comparative religions/mythology" but i must warn you about this:
First of all This drawing is about the Virgin Mary of Lourdes(This is in France in 19th century, not in South America or other) so in that case you commentary don´t get the point.
Second, The case of Saint Bridget/ Goddess Brigid it´s in disscussion by scholars today (the synchretism of both figure doesnt mean that the Saint didnt exist, even more , this can be researched to). In the wikipedia appeared that disscusion(Im ust told you when i use references in this type of debates i try to not to use the wikipedia as a base). I only agree(and only sometimes) that something in wikipedia is true, when the sources in question that wikipedia uses have a academic weight and are successful in explaining a topic . In simple points. Wikipedia is not a primordial source of investigation.
Third (not less important) , be careful with the parallelism in the concepts in religions. Most of times when are used to difame religions(in spanish its called "paralelomania"), and its a type of false analogy falllacy applied in history of religion and similar areas of knowledge(the documentary Zeitgeist: the Movie was debunked by scholars, specially in the first part for that problem). I am not only talk about the problem of "paralelomania"in christianity, i am talking about also other dsicussions about some cults like Mithraism, Shintoism, Gnosticism and many others.
,
I am NOT against the study about comparing religions, in fact I am in favour of that in causes like interreligious dialogue , history of religion, etc. But I am against the bad reseach, and one-sided statements in the study of religions.
Well this all its my opinion but, i must say that i have sources and I am resarching this many times since a lot of years.
Greettings
