I'm sure you know that plants can create their own energy with sunlight, carbon dioxide and water, now what do you think happens when you have a grovyle that likes to expose himself to high amounts of light? All that generated energy has to go somewhere doesn't it? x3
And his poor jeans have to suffer as you can see, perhaps the tanning salon has to put up warning signs for grass Pokemon, that along with vitamin D, you can expect an inch or two extra on your waistline if you tan regularly, guess that's where the XL tanning beds are for i guess~
I had so much fun with this, i've drawn a fat Grovyle before ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19550944/ ) but never in a fun situation like this, if Flygon was a grass pokemon i would've drawn him here instead, but perhaps it's better this way, i have more than enough upcoming ideas for Flygon anyways ^^

Holy carp this looks amazing! The lighting/ shading looks exceptionally outstanding in this, too!
I also just thought of this idea: What if he bought pants that were made of an all natural plant material, so the pants can expand when exposed to the sun too? Not just pants, but a belt as well.

Really? i thought they did give off vitamin D, since i remember a documentary of people living way up north where it's always night for a month or so and they had to stand near bright blue lamps in the morning x3

D'aawwwwww, he's so big, huggable, and cute~ That vitamin D sure had a swell effect on this Grovyle--on that note, I don't believe I've seen such a well-drawn fat Grovyle before, he looks so utterly precious! Makes me want a fatty Grovyle friend to hang out with, and hug, and all. X//3
D'awww, well, in my opinion, you do indeed draw a super adorable grovyle, big guy--I haven't seen too many grovyle on FA, and I personally think you drew the cutest one I've seen! ^w^

And, this is actually one of my favorite WG situations that are specifically for plant/animal hybrid Grass-types: Photosynthetic energy storage~
Though, my favorite way to do this is: have said grass-type be "watered" a whole lot, then, use Sunny Day (or another light-intensive device like your Tanning Bed idea~ ;3), and watch as the process of turning water and carbon dioxide into simple sugars happens before their eyes~!
and we all know what happens if there are excess sugars in an animal's body: they get stored as glorious, bubbling blubber~

Grovyle doesen't get drawn often sadly, so i'm really happy i could still fill that void a bit for Grovyle lovers like you~ ^^
And i absolutely agree with you! i'm a big fan of clever WG ideas and i knew i just had to draw something with photosynthesis, i just needed a fitting grass type test subject x3
