I haven't read Redwall at all but this is a really good one. I like his expression, it tells a story. It makes me think of someone stranded in the wilderness, worried about survival. Of course if I'd read Redwall before I'd have a bit more context and it might make me think of something different XD.
I agree with Draugr; the expression is amazing. It's so full of emotion; you can almost tangibly feel it with even just a glance. It reminds me of a conflicted sadness about a job that must be done despite wishing there was any other way; or of a deep longing to be elsewhere, in some far-off place or time; very impressively done, and the overall work is likewise wonderful :)
