The Hirotaku Class Torpedo Frigate was introduced into service at the start of the 4 Years War between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. As will all classes in the conflict leading up to the launch of the U.S.S. Ares, the Hirotaku suffered many losses to Klingon battle groups. The U.S.S. Hirotaku herself was near-critically damaged during the second year of the war, but was repair just in time to take part in the Battle of Axanar, which was the final battle of the bloody conflict, resulting in Federation victory.
