The EMD GP30 is my all time favorite locomotive. It is ugly as sin, but I love it. This was my first time seeing a GP30 in person. Foam levels were critical.

One of the employees there told me that this locomotive was the last unit ever to receive Conrail Blue. As in there's no more actual paint left. Not too sure just how accurate that is. But still very interesting.

Conrail has and still does have a part in the history of railroads. I wish that some of the Conrail engines could have remained with conrail paint, but patch numbered.

There is a GP40 or GP38 on the Hartwell Railroad in Georgia that has very badly faded but virtually untouched Conrail paint.

Trust me, if black is all you saw on the train tracks for 9 years (I lived on the mainline between St. Louis and Decatur, IL), you wish for different colored engines too.
