So, I have yet to see any of my aquarium plants pearling aside from in my 2 gallon fry tank... But never before have any of them been THIS productive. This plant was pearling like crazy tonight.
Thought I'd share because It is neat.
Plant - Anubias nana petite
No ferts, No co2. High light.

I looked through your scraps, your tanks are lovely!
Unfortunately most of my tanks have black algae now, which I'm constantly fighting. It has killed off the majority of my plants and fish in my 20 gallon. I've had to redo the entire tank, even taking out the background and substrate to replace the substrate with pebbles until I can get something better. It looks like a wasteland right now. I really need to get some new plants for it, but I'm afraid the black algae will return. :/
My tanks don't look too well either, I've always had varied success with planted tanks because I have a hard time being consistant with nutrients/water changes. I'm trying to work out a general chore schedule so hopefully I can start keeping up with it and making my tanks happier all the time. Once I get my two current tanks under control, I'd like to set up a 5G shrimp tank next to my desk as well. :)
Easy plants include Java fern (most varieties.)
Java moss
Anubias
Sword
Cryptocoryne varieties
Some Aponogeton varieites
Water Wisteria
Duck weed. (Grows probably too fast. Top water floater. )
Frogbit .. Like duckweed, but much, much larger.
Many more varieties you can check out by using various aquarium plant websites.
Most listed are extremely hardy, although swords can be fussy.
Most snails that I get seem to perish, except for the two assassin snails I have left. They are hardy little buggers. And pond snails don't eat much algae. I do have a lot of those.
Unfortunately string or hair algae is too hard for most snails or shrimp to consume. (Black algae is also a form of hair algae.) :/ .. Image is not mine, but shows the nasty stuff. - http://buegefamily.com/wp-content/g.....BA-001-002.jpg Grows super fast and takes over everything. ugh.
Great photo, though! :)
