for this work, i asked for something very meaningful to myself and my ideals. for one martial arts (as cliche and over used as it is in the fandom) truly is a passion of mine, i train as often as i can, and try to comprehend its deeper spiritual and mental meanings rather than just its physical and visual stunning. for that i asked for a martial arts like pose.
the Quote is from a Prayer which is read in the background called the "Our Father" its for some reason the strongest form of words to me when i was raised as a youth in a fairly religious way, its stuck with me my whole life, and feels as though it bares a strong significant meaning to me. so i had it placed in the picture.
the marking on my arm as well as my pants) (note pants might not have originally been there but i asked for the marking to be apparent in some way so she gave my fursona some decent pants, which i really like, i note this mainly because my fursona is most often characterized as nude. who has time to describe some happy kingdom hearts/final fantasy hot topic rip off each time?)
the marking which i bare on my inner right fore arm in real life, is known as the Chi Rho, or Labarum, now a generalization of this symbol is meant to represent invincibility and victory in the face of those who stand in ones way. during the time of St. Constantine this being was to do battle with the Roman army, however, Constantine had just about everything against him. Supplies, Weapons, Moral, even men to supply his own army.
Even so, Constantine was set to battle anyway, even if brutal failure was to be destined. so on the day before the battle as the fable states, he prayed to God and meditated searching for an answer, what he received was a blessing, upon viewing the sky he saw what was believed to be this symbol, and a message from what he believed was God speaking to him, saying in short, "in this symbol you shall find great victory" so with that, Constantine ordered all his men to inscribe this marking upon themselves, their shields, they're horses, weapons, armor, everything.
And they road off into battle against amazing odds....They won that battle, and with that Constantine was said to have become, one of the first non-roman christian emperors of Rome.
At least that's a generalization of the tale,
now the thing is, i didn't place this mark upon my person so i can be a good Cristian or because im some super religious whatever. no i'm not very religious at all, I'm more spiritual in that area, but i cant call myself a christian or catholic, i do believe in God yes, but i don't follow those religions for my own personal reasons.
no i placed this mark on myself because my best friend is Catholic, I've known my best friend for a VERY long time, we consider each other brothers, and we don't take that bond lightly, however just last year, when he wed his chosen mate, and left with her to live a new life with her in a completely new state almost the whole nation away, i felt the best thing we could do to signify a strong friendship was for me to purchase these markings one for each of us, you see not only did i see him as brother but he was the leader of our group, and in a sense my alpha, and as the leader of our group, his most trusted men, would be granted the right to bare what he believed was a very sacred symbol. and so i bare this mark. and i don't take it lightly.
which is the main theme of the image, i wanted something of a dark warrior triumphant in the pillars of light. i feel she puled off this concept rather well.
