Here it is, the first rendition of my Zootopia original character! He will be appearing in my comic: Zootopia: The Wilde-Hopps Chronicles.
Name: Raymond A. Setclaw (aka: Coywire)
Species: Coywolf
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Height: 4'-8''
Weight: 95 lbs
Eyes: Green
Fur: Brown/Tan/Grey
He is a male coywolf (hybrid between a wolf and a coyote) who was born and raised in Bunnyburrow, but currently lives near Savannah Central in Zootopia. Born as Raymond Setclaw, he is mostly known by his stage name "Coywire", one of the most popular and successful DJs in the city. Coywire leads a double life: by day, he is a graphic designer/artist working from home, by night (usually night when his gigs are running), he becomes Zootopia's EDM icon, and pioneer of the Progressive House genre. He's like Zootopia's equivalent to David Guetta or Avicci, and aspires to collaborate with many singers, especially Gazelle.
While on stage, he always appears wearing bizarre variations of his signature mask which resembles a large plague doctor's mask with antlers, horns, or LED displays. The mask helps protect Coywire's identity allowing him to switch gears into his normal life without being recognized by paparazzi. However, this has the media on a constant hunt for Coywire's true identity, which threatens his comfortable way of life. He is also, for some reason, crushed on by a lot of animals both female and male, although he's totally oblivious to it. Primarily it's by those who see him regularly through his daily routine as Raymond, not Coywire.
Although Coywire has become extremely successful through his career as a DJ, raking in millions in revenue, he lives far below his means. He only rents a single story, middle class home in the heart of Zootopia, which helps keep him under the media's radar. The only things he really splurges on are his vehicles and having a lot of high-tech gadgets.
Despite Coywire's good fortune, he finds himself very lonely at times. He feels like he's isolating himself because he's living alone, hiding from the public eye, and missing all his friends and family still behind in Bunnyburrow. He misses his parents, his friends from school, and his post-high school crush. He's not sure why his visits to home are so few and far between, but there is just something about Zootopia that draws him in, and consumes him. He feels like he is pursuing some kind of destiny and sometimes forgets the value he holds in his homeland.
Growing up in Bunnyburrow wasn't always easy however. Before he was Coywire, he was Ray, an out-of-place predator, and was constantly teased by his classmates due go the overwhelming percentage of prey species compared to predators. Usually bullied by large groups of bunnies throughout grade school, Ray developed a biased disdain towards rabbits, and still struggles with it from time to time to this day. He held on to a small group of friends, predators who band together against the constant subtle intolerance to them by a prey dominated community.
In high school, he began to gain popularity and acceptance in the community through his first productions of electronic music. Electronic music was not a common sound in rural areas like Bunnyburrow, so it was an intriguing sound that no one had ever heard before. Pretty soon he held local events like dance parties and promotional gigs which eventually grabbed the attention of music labels in Zootopia. So began the career that made a small town coywolf into an A-list pop star...
