Here is the second of two 'photo-ops' (taken by my brother Glenn with his smartphone) from the August 6, 2016 trip to Rutherford Park in Boca Raton, Florida (as the two of us recollect a similar trek ten years ago, in memory of our late mother, Sheila Shell Martinez)...
While at the park, we met a couple who had already familiarized themselves with some of the wildlife - who usually come up for a handout at the picnic shelter. One of those critters was a mother raccoon - who (as luck would have it) came right to us for some food. The male member of said couple gave her bits of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to munch on.
When I saw the raccoon approach the shelter, I'd told Glenn to whip out his smartphone and take a picture of her (which he did, just as she was passing by one of the bicycles owned by the couple).
If you'd like to read the journal where we'd encountered both this raccoon and an equally hungry squirrel, go to https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7744271/ .
