I recognize that view, going north on US-52. I visited the peak several times. One memorable moment was hearing a girl yell out "There's the pimple!!" I guess everyone has a term for it.

I lived in the Raleigh area for the last 17 years. A group of us used to visit in fursuit at First Fridays in the Arts District in Winston-Salem. My job brought me back home to north west Pennsylvania. Pilot mountain would be my last view before I exited North Carolina. You can even see the mountain with a pimple on it as you look back while high up in Virginia. I am glad it was not foggy for you that day.

NC is a beautiful state all around. I had only been through it once before, at night, in a rainstorm. This was a much better visit.

It's very petty but I don't think I could move south. I'm to attached to Western PA.
