"This mighty beast does deserve the name of the god of war... the Ares is a quite bulky unsual looking handgun but no doubt it's fun to shoot even if it takes some skills to shoot it... properly"
- Ines Garbo
The Ares or Pistol, Heavy Mk III No.1, .445 Magnum, it's a quite powerful firearm it's not actually a standard issue weapon for the Retro fighters but it can be often seen used by officers (with grip decorated as a honorary weapon given to officers or troop that proven to deserve it) or personnel that invest some of their gainings to get something that hit quite a lot harder than the usual Stiletto
The weapons does have it's issues it's rather heavy and quite hard to control if the user is unable to manage the recoil, the handgun use a long recoil rotating bolt action, the similarities with a scaled down artillery piece made sure that this bulky firearm gained the nickname "handcannon"
Caliber: .455 Magnum (11,5x33mm)
Mag: 8+1
Safety: 2 position safety Safe - Fire
weight: 1.64 Kg

I like your gun designs. Speaking of Ares, look up the Mars Automatic Pistol, if you don't know about it already. Another design you might find intriguing is Gyrojet. Although both of these pistols were deemed unsuitable for military applications, Gyrojet and another ingenious design, Dardick, are extremely clever and well worth looking into.
(The CIA tried out Gyrojet in Vietnam but it will become obvious why it was never adopted as a on the line weapon).
Now that I compare them, it appears you do know all about the Webley-Mars. Oh well, there goes my conversational gambit!

good eye it is indeed based on the Mars pistol and there's even a lil bit of hint in the name Ares and Mars are both the names of the god of war
oh and i do know the Dardick triangular rounds and i heard of the Gyrojet even saw some pics but still it dosn't wake up my intrest as the Mars or the Dardick does

The problem with Dardick is that it is a brilliant solution to a non problem. Few moving parts, a revolver that is magazine loaded, cheap, it would only be practical in a country with a developing firearms industry. It could be used in a chain gun application as I once read that it was being considered for, but that must have been a dead end. Gyrojet fascinates me because the weapon is just sheet metal, one could make ten for what a .38 would cost. The round is just not powerful enough even though it is still under development. (Deathwind project). They say firing one at night is quite the experience! Both Dardick and Gyrojet are from the late 50's.
Good talking to you, I will keep an eye on your posts. Sincerely-
