Having recently visited the "FA" site of MelWhite, I'd learned about the "Coyote" webcomic (in her live journal) - which I hope to check out, from time to time. I haven't seen that trickster in years. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, I had acquired from her a few mini-digest stories of "Coyote" and his many adventures (and misadventures) - loosely based on Native American folklore - and they never fail to put a smile on my face...
And speaking of smiles, the one thing I love about MelWhite's animal characters - be it 'Coyote' or 'Mallory' the dragon - is the way she can place an exaggerated smile on their faces (the kind in which the teeth are larger than the muzzle that contains them). For THAT reason, I'd drawn (nearly a score ago) a two-panel fan art gag in which 'Coyote' meets his match in the smiling department. The quotation that accompanies the images was one I'd seen many times on posters and bumper stickers. (So I don't get sued by the original author, I'd changed the last word of said quotation - from 'crazy' to 'nutzoid'.)
