This is a lengthy discussion I had with multiple people about where I believe certain standards should be held. I realize not everyone shares these standards but I do feel obligated to let them know how important they are to truly appreciate art.

Sometimes when you sit down and read something word for word you can actually get something from it. I think I'll take this with me and try to apply it to my life.
"You would be amazed at what you could do if you just spent more than 5 hours on something, even if it was your first time doing it. It's a revolutionary idea for people like you these days to think of spending such time on a single thing when your so used to immediate gratification with minimal efforts put into it."

I have to admit, my first thought on seeing that picture was also "Howl's Moving Castle". For a number of reasons. That particular architectural style is one that Miyazaki loves to use. The whole "Building growing wider as it grows taller", with numerous awnings, arches, and missmatched windows. The fact that it's a castle that, well, moves (and without steam power and giant treads, which probably would've reminded me of 'The Hungry City Chronicles' instead). The immense scale of the wheels and the size contrast between castle and puller are both the sort of visual flourishes that crop up in his work. And the bold outline around the castle help hammer in the instinctual 'animation' recognition response in the brain.
If I saw a picture of art-deco covered with water and barnacles, my first thought would be Bioshock as well.
All that said, it is more then a little tacky to just go "Ooo! Stylalistic similarity!" as your only comment and move on. While the picture reminds me the fuck out of Howl's Mobile Citadel, there's a lot more at work there.
(Not to mention the constructive criticism of how some shading work to give the whole mass some depth would make it just stunning.)
