First: yes the back boot is just a lazy copy paste. Was just going to do the one boot but decided I wanted something in the back. I'll likely go back and do the second boot later, but hey, you get one boot for now!
The town had appeared out of nowhere, when Niphina Dazzleflaire had gone to bed it was a simple forest, when she woke up an entire town had been built. If she had known the truth of the town, she never would have gone in, but lacking that vital information, and drawn by the smell of warm food she had stepped through the gate. It had gone well at first, everyone seemed thrilled by her spectacular, flashy magics. She put on a show in exchange for room and board, taking requests from other patrons at the tavern in exchange for a bit of extra drink. The kind of town a wandering performer dreams about. It was that night as she slept that things took a turn. Deep within her dreams she didn't notice as the woman entered her room and began working their magic, her final chance to escape her fate slipping by without notice. The changes started slowly, he fingers and toes drawing together, smoothing, and shrinking, her skin growing soft but firm as it took on a deeper tan. As her legs began to curl up and shrink the changes came faster and faster, arms drawing to her sides, hair merging with her body, her human shape giving way to an irregular lump. The final changes to her body were smoothing and opening her up, making room within for an adventurers foot. But a simple leather shoe wasn't fitting for such an excitable gnome, and they still had so much equipment to make use of. First came her cape, a cloth sheath around the top of the shoe. Next came her ornaments, simplified, merged, and flattened into a pair of yellow 'wings' affixed to either side. She certainly had flair, but function was always the towns goal. Her armor and weapons were merged into a metal ball and attached to the sole and toe, giving her some proper utility. The final addition was a shin guard, made from what remained of her possessions, a pair of eyes added to the guard to allow her some entertainment in her new form. Though her form was made of previously distinct parts, each piece now felt equally a part of her. The metal, the leather, the fabric, it was all her, all part of the boot that was once Nephina Dazzleflaire. She was done, permanently converted into a boot, ready to be worn by someone she never knew, and who never knew her. The witches conjured a mirrored copy to complete the pair and carried them out of the inn. That had been her last night as a human.
I'm going to be running a D&D game soon, and the first town the players are going to visit is full of things that were previously people. My goal is to find some people to submit themselves or their characters to the town. In exchange I'll write a short blurb about the change, and if it gives me a vivid picture I might try and draw it. Please send me a message or leave a comment if you're interested. ^_^
