I don't think anybody really wants to have to view those kind of dimensions on FA

No, I use Photoshop for all my design stuff. Never really grasped illustrator.

if you wanna print it out, use illustrator. if you print with photoshop format, it will be pixelated. i've tried before. :)

It won't be pixelated if you actually design at the same resolution it will be printed (4.75x4.75", 300dpi - minimum of 1425x1425 pixels - each of these front and back covers is designed at 3000x3000 dpi, and then downsized during printing, leaving no pixel artifacts at all).

Vector would only help if I were upscaling to a larger size, which I am not.

ok...you try to zoom it. zoom it very very near. is it pixelated?

Obviously. ANY raster format will do that. The point is you will NOT notice these pixels while printing provided you design at the same or higher resolution. When you print off a vector image, it is rasterized at the required resolution and then printed. :V
